Ppjoy Windows 8 64 Bit

I wanted to know if there was anyway to use ppjoy on a windows 7 home premium 64 bit computer. I had it fully working on the same windows 7 version but the hdd died and needed to be replaced. After windows was reinstalled i decided to reinstall the program in test mode but whenever i try to make a virtual joystick it fails to install the driver software. Going into device manager and double clicking on Parallel Port Joystick device 1 device status says: 'Windows cannot apply all of the properties for this device.

I cant think of what could possibly be diffrent about this install of windows 7 that it wont work.

So far i have tried: uninstalling and reinstalling it running the installer in compatibility mode and as an administrator manually installing the driver software (comes up with a make sure the driver works for x64 systems).
